How a deeptech founder closed a $2M seed round
Her deck scored 67 out of 100. Here is what she fixed, who she pitched, and where 70% of the round came from.

The starting point
A deeptech company raising a $2M seed round in spring 2026. A strong market story, a clear ask, and one weak slide that mattered more than the rest.
Step 1: Find the slide that is costing you meetings
She ran her deck through VC Boom, the tool we built for exactly this (full disclosure). It scored 67 out of 100.

Market came back at 82. Traction came back at 42: the slide showed numbers with no momentum story behind them. The fix was to rebuild it to lead with contract pipeline, not current MRR.

Matching by stage, sector and recent checks returned 23 strong matches. She already knew 14 of them. The rest were new to her, including a family office with recent deeptech checks she had not found on her own.
Step 3: Send short, specific emails
Her first email to a partner she had never met was 78 words. It referenced a recent essay by that partner and used one traction stat. Here is the shape of it:
Hi [first name],
[One line on a specific point from their recent essay, and why it matches what you build.]
[One sentence on what the company does.] [One traction stat.]
We are raising a $[amount] seed. Open to a 20-minute call next week?

The result
She closed the $2M round in June 2026. About 70% of the round came from investors she found and emailed through VC Boom.
One founder's raise. Results depend on your company, market and timing.
The strategy you can copy this week
- 1
Score your deck and fix the weakest slide.
One slide can drag a strong deck down. Find it before investors do.
- 2
Build a short list of investors who fit your stage and sector.
Fewer, better-fit names beat a long spreadsheet.
